SPS Volunteer Requirements 2017-2018

Bryant parent volunteers who have direct contact with students such as classroom volunteers, field trip chaperones, volunteers providing support on the Playground and in the Lunchroom; volunteers providing support in the Computer Lab, Library, Running Club, Math Champs, Chess Club, Art Docents, Room Parents, Writer’s Celebration, Field Day, Bryant Blast, Drama and other activities need to complete the following requirements:

  1. Complete the Volunteer Application-Screening-Disclosure Form (p.1-4) annually (school year) (download to your hard drive then fill out on your computer or print out and fill by hand)
  2. Provide a copy of valid photo ID* (*Only submit a copy of your valid photo ID if it has expired since the last time you submitted a screening form)
  3. Review the on-line Volunteer Handbook
  4. Review the Volunteer Policy #5630
  5. Complete the on-line Adult Sexual Misconduct Prevention course (one time)  **(17 minutes) Please forward the SPS confirmation email to ampatterson@seattleschools.org

Bryant parents with students at other SPS- elementary, middle or high schools
Complete all the volunteer requirements at Bryant and Ann Marie Patterson will send your forms to the other schools that you designate.

Volunteer forms- hard copy
A hard copy packet of the required Volunteer forms/information is available outside the Bryant office. Be sure to review the Volunteer Handbook and Volunteer Policy 5630 online and complete the online video course, (ASM) Adult Sexual Misconduct Prevention.

Volunteer forms submission:
Volunteers may submit forms electronically to Ann Marie Patterson or turn forms into the Bryant office.

Volunteer confirmation
After volunteer forms are received and approved, including completion of the on-line Adult Sexual Misconduct Prevention course, volunteers will be notified via email. Volunteers will be added to a list of approved parent volunteers for each classroom teacher. If volunteering for a PTSA sponsored activity, committee chairs will submit volunteer names and Ann Marie Patterson will verify completion of volunteer requirements with the specific committee chair.

Volunteer sign-in at Bryant office
Please sign in the white volunteer binder in the Bryant office every time you come in to volunteer, and remember to sign out when you leave. Include your name, volunteer category (F- family), check volunteer activity, location, time in/out. Please wear an orange volunteer badge.

Bryant parents, family members and community members who are visiting Bryant on a one-time or non-regular basis who have no unsupervised contact with students, are considered “Visitors.” Please sign in at the office and wear a Visitor badge. Visitors include guest speakers, classroom party attendees, lunchroom visitors and family classroom observers.
