After-School Childcare & Classes
In addition to LASER, an after-school and summer camp program which operates on-site at Bryant Elementary, there are many amazing after-school classes and care options in the local Bryant community, some of which offer transportation. In typical (non-Covid) years, Bryant also offers a variety of after-school classes on-site such as art, music, and athletic activities through Seattle ASE (After School Enrichment).
All Seattle Public Schools follow the same school year calendar. Please visit the District’s School Calendar webpage for up-to-date information.
Open Enrollment and School Choice
To enroll in Seattle Public Schools, please see the Seattle Public Schools website for enrollment forms and registration dates. New Seattle Public Schools students are automatically assigned to the elementary school in their attendance area. To determine what school your child is currently enrolled in, use the District’s Assignment Look-Up Tool. Refer to the District website for the latest information on geographic attendance boundaries.
If you are outside of Bryant’s attendance area but would like to attend Bryant, first submit your registration forms, then submit your choice request during the Open Enrollment period. Full instructions for registration can be found on the District admissions page or by contacting the Admissions office at (206) 252-0760.
Bryant doesn’t offer daytime tours. In late winter, the Kindergarten teaching team invites prospective parents/guardians to attend the Bryant Open House where you will hear about Bryant, meet the teachers, and learn more about the Kindergarten curriculum. Those interested in Grades 1-5 are also encouraged to attend — representatives from each of the other grade levels as well as specialists, the PTSA and other school resources will also be on hand.
PLEASE NOTE: Typically these Open Houses are held at the school and incorporate classroom and school tours. This year’s Bryant Open House – TBA.
After the District has tendered its school assignments, the Kindergarten team hosts a New Family Night in the late spring for students and their parents/guardians to visit Bryant. Classroom assignments won’t be made until the end of summer, but you can explore the different classrooms, introduce yourself to the teaching team, and meet some of your new classmates.
2024-25 Date: TBA
Incoming families benefit from the wisdom and experience of veteran Bryant families or Bryant Bound. Bryant Bound is there to answer all your questions and show you the Bryant ropes. Bryant Bound pairings are made in July for the upcoming school year. More information will be provided to new families in the late spring.
Start making new friends early and meet up with other incoming Kindergarteners and their families before school starts in the summer. This year’s playdates will all be at Bryant Elementary’s playground so the children can explore their new stomping grounds. Bring balls, bikes, chalk, siblings, anything to entertain yourself and your new friends!
2024-25 Dates: 7/29/2024 5:30-6:30 pm, 8/21/2024 5:30-6:30 pm, 9/8/2021 1-2:30 pm.
Approximately one week before school starts, your new teacher will contact you via email with an introduction, your classroom assignment, and a little information about starting at Bryant. The administration and faculty do not take requests for teacher preferences, though they carefully consider the overall makeup and dynamic of each classroom when deciding classroom placement.
Family Connections and Kindergarten Delayed Start Date
The first day of school is delayed for Kindergarten families in all Seattle Public Schools to allow Kindergarten teachers to meet with each family individually (known as “Family Connections”). Please refer to the District website for the latest district-wide calendar information including the first day of school for Kindergarteners.
2024-25 First Day of School for Kindergarteners: Monday, 9/9/2024

Volunteer & New Parent Orientation
In the late fall, join us to learn when and how to be involved in your student’s classroom. And beyond the classroom, the Bryant PTSA has many volunteer opportunities to fit the busiest of parent schedules. Parent involvement benefits every student in our school. Room Parent volunteers are requested by teachers in the early fall and provide critical communication links between individual classrooms, teachers and the PTSA. They are strongly encouraged to attend. We’ll also discuss the current Seattle Public School volunteer requirements for school volunteers.
