Threadology with Elaine

Instructor: Elaine D. Woodhouse, CertEd, CQSW
Grade Range: K-5th
Time: Wednesdays, 3:45-4:45
Location: Rm 206

Threadology is creating art with threads and mixed media. Inspired by Seattle artist Marita Dingus we will make art dolls using wire, yarn and found objects. We will become “yarn stormers” and use feathers, pompoms, and flower petals to produce a yarnstormed sculpture. For those interested in learning how to finger knit, we will use our knitting to represent jelly fish, as well as incorporating it into our weaving projects. Ever wondered what a Catonkey looks like? You will when you create a Frankenstuffie! Whether we are making finger puppets, or designing Threadology collages, this class is a wealth of color and texture guaranteed to stimulate your imagination!! Take a look at the galleries on my web-site to see some of the work created by students during this Summer’s art camps.
